With various pick up points around the island starting at approx 10am, the first stop on this organised bus tour is at the monastery of Profitis Ilias which is situated on the highest point of the island and while listening to the history of the church you'll have a panoramic view of Santorini. The tour then continues to Akrotiri Village. The prehistoric site of Akrotiri played an important role in the Aegean affairs during the third and second millennia B.C. One of the greatest and most cosmopolitan harbors of the Mediterranean during the first half of the second millennium, Akrotiri was buried under a thick mantle of ash when the volcano erupted in about 1.600 BC. Next stop is at one of the black beaches of the island, for lunch, swimming, shopping etc. You'll finish the tour with a visit to one of the famous Santorini wineries tasting some of the great wines that are produced on Santorini.
