DAY 1 - Arrival in Cappadocia / Red Valley - Goreme Valley - Avcilar Valley - Kiliclar Valley - Avanos
Upon arrival in Kayseri, or Nevsehir transfer to Cappadocia where you will spend the day exploring the rugged beauty of this fantastic region. The winding landscape is decorated at every twist and turn with a maze of cones, slopes and fairy chimneys, products of centuries of wind and rain. Visit the Red Valley enroute to the Goreme Valley. Now an open-air museum, Goreme's churches were carved into the stone between the 7th-13th centuries and are decorated with frescoes that provide a record of early Christianity. Some of the churches you may see include the Church of St Barbara, the Church of the Serpent, the Church of the Sandal, the Church of the Apple and the Church of the Buckle. You will also visit Avcilar Valley, Kiliklar Valley with their old cave-dwellings and fairy chimneys; and Avanos, a small town located on the banks of the Kizilirmak, famous for its pottery. Lunch during sightseeing. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. |
DAY 2 - Ihlara Canyon - Derinkuyu Underground city - Uchisar - Valley of the pigeon Houses.
In the morning, depart for the green Ihlara Canyon at the bottom of which a footpath leads to picturesque cave churches. After lunch, on the way back, visit Derinkuyu underground city, a labyrinth organized on seven levels and used as shelter by the local population in period of invasions where they could live beneath the ground for months. Then, visit the charming village of Uchisar, with its tufa rock crowned with a citadel which provides a magnificent panorama over the region including the Valley of the Pigeon Houses. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. |
DAY 3 - Departure
After breakfast, depart from the hotel on foot to explore most unusual valleys. You will spend the morning taking an easy hike accessible to all. Lunch during the sightseeing. At the end of the afternoon, transfer to Kayseri or Nevsehir airport. |
